Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Sailor by Malcolm Morley was sold in the New Now auction at Phillips in London in December this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 33,020.00 (€ 38,037.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Malcolm Morley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work SS Amsterdam in Front of Rotterdam in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 1,202,500.00 (€ 1,695,509.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Sailor von Malcolm Morley wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion New Now bei Phillips in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 33.020,00 (€ 38.037,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Malcolm Morley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit SS Amsterdam in Front of Rotterdam im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.202.500,00 (€ 1.695.509,91).
