This work comes with a matting specifically done by the artist as a gift to the Ducam family, who were close friends with the artist.
This work will be included in the forthcoming Mai Trung Thu catalogue raisonné currently being prepared by the artist's daughter, Mai Lan Phuong.

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work L'Écharpe Bleue by Mai Trung Thu was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Art and Southeast Asian Art auction at Bonhams in New York in May this year. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 1,401,000.00 (€ 167,925.38), 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mai Trung Thu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De Mademoiselle Phuong in April 2021 with an auction result of HKD 24,375,000.00 (€ 2,609,725.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit L'Écharpe Bleue von Mai Trung Thu wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art and Southeast Asian Art bei Bonhams in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 1.401.000,00 (€ 167.925,38) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mai Trung Thu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait De Mademoiselle Phuong im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 24.375.000,00 (€ 2.609.725,69).
