In May 2021 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale, which included the work La Joconde (Mona Lisa) by Mai Trung Thu. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 5,625,000.00 (€ 594,605.95), 61% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Mai Trung Thu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait De Mademoiselle Phuong in April 2021 with an auction result of HKD 24,375,000.00 (€ 2,609,725.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2021 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th and 21st Century Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit La Joconde (Mona Lisa) von Mai Trung Thu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 5.625.000,00 (€ 594.605,95) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mai Trung Thu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait De Mademoiselle Phuong im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 24.375.000,00 (€ 2.609.725,69).
