Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art, which included the work On the Banks of the Nile by Mahmoud Mokhtar. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 40,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 40,250.00 (€ 44,932.58). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mahmoud Mokhtar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Egyptian au Bord Du Nil (Ala Shat Elnil / On The Banks Of The Nile) in April 2016 with an auction result of GBP 725,000.00 (€ 926,765.58).
