In March 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Asia, which included the work Oh Canada by Lui Liu. The »bidding war« ended at USD 100,000.00 (€ 63,271.12), 43% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Lui Liu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Public Vs. Republic in April 2014 with an auction result of HKD 4,840,000.00 (€ 450,151.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 43 % übertroffen
Im März 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Asia durch, in der auch die Arbeit Oh Canada von Lui Liu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 63.271,12) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lui Liu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Public Vs. Republic im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 4.840.000,00 (€ 450.151,41).
