Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Dutch Ships Off A Coast, A Ship Firing A Salute, And Small Boats In The Foreground by Ludolf Bakhuizen was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,066.25). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludolf Bakhuizen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A States Yacht and other ships on the sea in stormy weather in July last year with an auction result of GBP 730,800.00 (€ 872,705.00).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Dutch Ships Off A Coast, A Ship Firing A Salute, And Small Boats In The Foreground von Ludolf Bakhuizen im Juli 2017 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.066,25) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ludolf Bakhuizen erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A States Yacht and other ships on the sea in stormy weather im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 730.800,00 (€ 872.705,00).
