Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A wijdschip, a smalschip and a state yacht tacking, with fishermen in a pink drawing in their nets in the foreground, the man-o’-war ‘Bruinvisch’ lowering sails beyond by Ludolf Bakhuizen was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in July 2015. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 242,500.00 (€ 343,783.55), 21% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ludolf Bakhuizen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A States Yacht and other ships on the sea in stormy weather, which sold at auction in July last year for GBP 730,800.00 (€ 872,705.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A wijdschip, a smalschip and a state yacht tacking, with fishermen in a pink drawing in their nets in the foreground, the man-o’-war ‘Bruinvisch’ lowering sails beyond von Ludolf Bakhuizen wurde im Juli 2015 in der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 242.500,00 (€ 343.783,55) und damit 21% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ludolf Bakhuizen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A States Yacht and other ships on the sea in stormy weather beobachtet, die im Juli letzten Jahres für GBP 730.800,00 (€ 872.705,00) versteigert wurde.
