In April 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work South African Unfriendly Woman ('Nomadolo') by Lucas Tandokwazi Sithole. The result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,653.16) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lucas Tandokwazi Sithole - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work South African day Dreamer, which sold at auction in October 2018 for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 9,867.30).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit South African Unfriendly Woman ('Nomadolo') von Lucas Tandokwazi Sithole zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.653,16) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Lucas Tandokwazi Sithole mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit South African day Dreamer beobachtet, die im Oktober 2018 für GBP 8.750,00 (€ 9.867,30) versteigert wurde.
