The New York Yacht Club's steam yacht Happy Days in Mediterranean waters off Naples, 1928

16½ x 27½ in. (41.9 x 69.9 cm.)

Auction result well in line with expectations

In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work The New York Yacht Club's steam yacht Happy Days in Mediterranean waters off Naples, 1928 by Luca Papaluca. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 625.00 (€ 714.69) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luca Papaluca achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Royal Yacht Squadron'S Steam Yacht Venetia In Neapolitan Waters (Illustrated); And At Sea in May 2006 with an auction result of GBP 5,760.00 (€ 8,407.72).
