Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lagoon of the Guayaquil, South America by Louis Rémy Mignot was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2024, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 88,200.00 (€ 77,084.43). Admittedly, works by Louis Rémy Mignot have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work River Scene, Ecuador in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 422,500.00 (€ 341,717.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Lagoon of the Guayaquil, South America von Louis Rémy Mignot im Januar 2024 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 88.200,00 (€ 77.084,43) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Louis Rémy Mignot auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit River Scene, Ecuador im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 422.500,00 (€ 341.717,89).
