In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction Boulle to Jansen: An Important Private European Collection, which included the work The Spanish barque Constancia approaching Marseilles with a paddle steamer off her stern by Louis Pellegrin. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,151.84), 43% above the upper estimate. Other works by Louis Pellegrin have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 4,182.50 (€ 6,010.48) in June 2003 for the work The Spanish brig Jayne Ferrer approaching Marseilles with the pilot boat off her stern.
