This artwork by Louis-Michel van Loo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2000. In the Old Master Paintings from the Lagerfeld Collection auction, the work Portrait of the artist, half-length, in a red jacket sold for USD 138,000.00 (€ 147,941.68) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis-Michel van Loo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of The Comtesse Marie Louise De Beaurepaire, Seated Full Length In A Landscape Holding A Garland Of Flowers, which sold at auction in July 2008 for GBP 433,250.00 (€ 550,449.00).
