This work of art by Louis-Michel van Loo could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in October 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Masters Online auction, the work Portrait Of Etienne François D'Aligre, Comte De Marans And Marquis D'Aligre (1727-1798), Half Length, In Robes Of Office changed hands for USD 6,875.00 (€ 6,163.16) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis-Michel van Loo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of The Comtesse Marie Louise De Beaurepaire, Seated Full Length In A Landscape Holding A Garland Of Flowers in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 550,449.00).
