Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

Here, the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 16,250.00 (€ 13,391.02). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis-François Cassas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Archéologues examinant un bas-relief aux abords de la ville d'Athènes in March 2017 with an auction result of EUR 182,500.00.

Die Arbeit Figures visiting the ruins of an imaginary antique building von Louis-François Cassas wurde im Januar 2021 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings including property from The Cornelia Bessie Estate bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 16.250,00 (€ 13.391,02) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louis-François Cassas erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Archéologues examinant un bas-relief aux abords de la ville d'Athènes im März 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 182.500,00.
