This artwork by Louis François Aubry achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2020. In the Old Master and British Works on Paper, including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work Portrait of a gentleman sold for GBP 4,032.00 (€ 4,504.10) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis François Aubry - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Louis Bonaparte (1778-1846), King of Holland 1806-1810, in the green uniform of a general, with scarlet facings, silver epaulettes, wearing the breast-star and badge of the Imperial Order of the Legion of Honour and the badges of the Order of the Iro, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 14,
