Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2005 Christies in London held the auction IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND OBJECTS OF VERTU, which included the work A Young Gentleman, In Black Coat Decorated With A Red Ribbon On Left Lapel, White Waistcoat And Shirt With High Collars, Black Cravat by Louis François Aubry. The price achieved of GBP 600 (€ 870) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been given by the auction house as GBP 500 - 700. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis François Aubry achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Louis Bonaparte (1778-1846), King of Holland 1806-1810, in the green uniform of a general, with scarlet facings, silver epaulettes, wearing the breast-star and badge of the Imperial Order of the Legion of Honour and the badges of the Order of the Iro in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 10,000 (€ 1
