Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work British Frigates And An Admiralty Yacht In The Channel by Louis Dodd was sold in the MARITIME AND NAVAL BATTLES auction at Christies in London in November 2001. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,292.50 (€ 2,056.77). Admittedly, works by Louis Dodd have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Charleston built frigate John Adams with the American fleet on the Guadeloupe station under Commodore Truxtun at Basseterre, St. Christoper's and Nevis, Leeward Islands, West Indies in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 9,987.50 (€ 16,026.25).
