Auction result misses estimated price range
In April 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work 'Beyrouth: Maison De Soeurs' by Louis de Clercq for USD 7,800.00 (€ 5,710.10). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs from the Private Collection of Margaret W. Weston at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis de Clercq - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Djebaïl. Soubassements Phéniciens', which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 31,000.00 (€ 19,912.64).
