Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Peking Opera Series-The Three Realms: Three Attacks on White Bone Demon; & Peking Opera Series: The Three Realms-Muke Village; Peking Opera Series: The Three Realms-Empty Fort Strategy by Liu Zheng was sold in the Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) auction at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 52,500.00 (€ 5,469.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Zheng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Opera Series, which sold at auction in September 2008 for USD 20,000.00 (€ 14,203.54).
