Auction result well in line with expectations
In June last year Phillips in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale, which included the work Footbath Water by Liu Weijian. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 10,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 10,080.00 (€ 1,226.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Liu Weijian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Engine No. 5 in October 2015 with an auction result of HKD 250,000.00 (€ 29,206.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni letzten Jahres führte Phillips in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Footbath Water von Liu Weijian zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 10.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 10.080,00 (€ 1.226,66) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Liu Weijian erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Engine No. 5 im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 250.000,00 (€ 29.206,67).
