Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Liu Rentao was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 37,000.00 (€ 3,008.23). Admittedly, works by Liu Rentao have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Butterfly Dream in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,245.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Liu Rentao im März 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 37.000,00 (€ 3.008,23) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Rentao auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Butterfly Dream im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.600,00 (€ 14.245,92).
