Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Three Youths In Siamo, 1981 by Liu Heung Shing was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,780.74). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Heung Shing - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Youths In Siamo, A Hair Salon In Beijing, Workers Removing The Portrait Of Mao, Students In Tiananmen Square (Four Works), which sold at auction in March 2007 for USD 6,000.00 (€ 4,486.32).
