Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Male Portrait by Leonid Pasternak was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 23,764.16). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leonid Pasternak achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 481,250.00 (€ 608,316.14).
