Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In August 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work Australian The Burial by Leonard French. Here, the upper estimate of AUD 70,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for AUD 74,400.00 (€ 43,741.23). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leonard French - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian The Crossing, which sold at auction in May 2007 for AUD 156,000.00 (€ 95,921.50).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im August 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian The Burial von Leonard French zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von AUD 70.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für AUD 74.400,00 (€ 43.741,23) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Leonard French mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian The Crossing beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für AUD 156.000,00 (€ 95.921,50) versteigert wurde.
