In May 2007 Sothebys in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection, which included the work Australian The Crossing by Leonard French. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 156,000.00 (€ 95,921.50), 30% above the upper estimate. With this result, Australian The Crossing is even the most expensive work of art by Leonard French that we have observed at auctions so far.
