Auction result well in line with expectations
In March this year Bonhams held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art, which included the work Head of Heinz I by Leon Kossoff. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 90,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 94,800.00 (€ 107,853.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leon Kossoff achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Willesden Junction - Autumn Afternoon in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 1,388,750.00 (€ 1,566,467.81).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Head of Heinz I von Leon Kossoff zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 90.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 94.800,00 (€ 107.853,31) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leon Kossoff erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Willesden Junction - Autumn Afternoon im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.388.750,00 (€ 1.566.467,81).
