Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work Insects And Cliffs by Leon Kelly for USD 11,750.00 (€ 13,865.94). This price was achieved in the auction American Paintings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 16,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leon Kelly - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Messenger (Man With Kites), which sold at auction in November 2019 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 45,376.17).
