Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of Monsieur Allard by Léon Bonnat was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 6,901.50). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Léon Bonnat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Samson's Youth in October 2006 with an auction result of USD 408,000.00 (€ 319,423.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of Monsieur Allard von Léon Bonnat im Januar 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.375,00 (€ 6.901,50) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Léon Bonnat erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Samson's Youth im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 408.000,00 (€ 319.423,78).
