The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,470.47), 59% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Lawrence Watson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Public Enemy, New York sold at auction in November 2009 with the realized price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,641.56).
