Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pansy, Geranium and Primrose by Laurence Biddle was sold in the 20th Century British Art auction at Christies in London in July 2004. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,135.25 (€ 1,715.61) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Laurence Biddle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work French Marigolds, Primroses, Geraniums, Violets And Other Flowers In A Bowl; And Another Similar, which sold at auction in March 2006 for GBP 4,320.00 (€ 6,189.78).
