In November 2019 Christies in London held the auction China Trade Paintings: Selections from the Kelton Collection, which included the work A Western Merchant, seated small half length, by a Moon Window, with a view to a Pagoda beyond by Lam Qua. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,750.00 (€ 11,448.88), 22% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Lam Qua have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The verandah of Nathaniel Kinsman's residence at Macao, looking across the Praya Grande; and Nathaniel Kinsman's residence at Macao, seen from the Praya Grande in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 73,072.64).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im November 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion China Trade Paintings: Selections from the Kelton Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Western Merchant, seated small half length, by a Moon Window, with a view to a Pagoda beyond von Lam Qua zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.750,00 (€ 11.448,88) und damit 22% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lam Qua auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The verandah of Nathaniel Kinsman's residence at Macao, looking across the Praya Grande; and Nathaniel Kinsman's residence at Macao, seen from the Praya Grande im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 62.500,00 (€ 73.072,64).
