Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Obaa Pa by Kwame Akoto was sold in the Post-War & Contemporary ArtFeaturing a Selection of Modern & Contemporary African Art auction at Bonhams in New York in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,020.00 (€ 901.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Kwame Akoto have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'The Seven Sins of Man' and 'Witches Camp' in March 2019 with an auction result of GBP 6,312.00 (€ 7,326.15).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Obaa Pa von Kwame Akoto wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary ArtFeaturing a Selection of Modern & Contemporary African Art bei Bonhams in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.020,00 (€ 901,22) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kwame Akoto auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'The Seven Sins of Man' and 'Witches Camp' im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.312,00 (€ 7.326,15).
