Each a woodblock print, from the series Patterns of Flowers (Hana moyo), and comprising:
- The Bunka Era (Bunka no koro), the right sheet signed Kiyochika ga, sealed Kiyochika, published by Akiyama Buemon (Kokkeido) in 1896
- The Tenmei Era (Tenmei no koro), the left sheet signed and sealed Kiyochika, published by Takekawa Seikichi, circa 1985
The first: each sheet approx. 37 x 24.5 cm.
The second: each sheet approx. 35.3 x 23.5 cm.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Two woodblock print triptychs by Kobayashi Kiyochika was sold in the Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection auction at Sothebys in London in May 2021. The price achieved of GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,638.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Kobayashi Kiyochika have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fudo Myoo in September 2004 with an auction result of USD 28,680.00 (€ 23,097.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Two woodblock print triptychs von Kobayashi Kiyochika wurde im Mai 2021 in der Auktion Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.268,00 (€ 2.638,87) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kobayashi Kiyochika auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fudo Myoo im September 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.680,00 (€ 23.097,37).
