A top price for Knut Ekwall - as previously expected
In June 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings including German, Austrian & Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and The Scandinavian Sale, which included the work Swedish The Chess Game by Knut Ekwall. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,734.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Swedish The Chess Game is the most expensive artwork by Knut Ekwall that we have observed at auctions so far.
