Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Marantz Model 6300 With Yellow Stripe by Kelley Walker was auctioned at Sothebys in London in August 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,788.00 (€ 5,365.24). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kelley Walker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Star Press in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 572,750.00 (€ 652,107.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Marantz Model 6300 With Yellow Stripe von Kelley Walker im August 2020 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.788,00 (€ 5.365,24) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kelley Walker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Star Press im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 572.750,00 (€ 652.107,49).
