Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Kehinde Wiley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February 2018. In the Contemporary Edition auction, the work The Sisters Zénaïde and Charlotte Bonaparte sold for USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,653.84) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kehinde Wiley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Virgin Martyr St. Cecilia in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 649,200.00 (€ 575,174.98).
