Woodblock print, ink and colour on paper depicting a girl holding two doves, signed in pencil in Roman script Kaoru Kawano, sealed in red in Japanese Kaoru -- 14½in. x 9¾in. (36.8cm x 24.7cm); and two further colour prints, signed Y. Kimura, dated 1968 and 1972 -- 23¾in. x 14¾in. (60.2cm x 37.5cm), all framed and glazed. (3)

A top price for Kawano Kaoru - as previously expected
In September 2006 Christies in London held the auction Asian Art, which included the work Unknown by Kawano Kaoru. The price achieved of GBP 420.00 (€ 619.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Unknown is the most expensive artwork by Kawano Kaoru that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im September 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Unknown von Kawano Kaoru zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 420,00 (€ 619,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300,00 – 500,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Unknown das teuerste Kunstwerk von Kawano Kaoru, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
