Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Cathedral of St. John the Divine by Karl Struss was sold in the Photographs auction at Sothebys in New York in April last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 4,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,394.00 (€ 2,271.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karl Struss achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'Metropolitan Tower--Twilight' in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 313,000.00 (€ 201,053.44).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Cathedral of St. John the Divine von Karl Struss wurde im April letzten Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.394,00 (€ 2.271,99) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Karl Struss erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'Metropolitan Tower--Twilight' im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 313.000,00 (€ 201.053,44).
