In June 2001 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS, which included the work A Billy Goat by Karel Gomes. The »bidding war« ended at NLG 2,585.00 (€ 1,242.47), 72% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Karel Gomes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Playing otters, which sold at auction in September 2011 for EUR 2,750.00.

Im Juni 2001 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion PICTURES, WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Billy Goat von Karel Gomes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von NLG 2.585,00 (€ 1.242,47) und damit 72% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Karel Gomes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Playing otters beobachtet, die im September 2011 für EUR 2.750,00 versteigert wurde.
