This artwork by Karel Appel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in May last year. In the Art contemporain - vente online auction, the work Animal sold for EUR 21,420.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karel Appel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two birds and a Flower in December 2012 with an auction result of EUR 841,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Karel Appel erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Art contemporain - vente online wurde die Arbeit Animal für EUR 21.420,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Karel Appel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two birds and a Flower im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 841.000,00.
