Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Flight Into Egypt by Justin O'Brien was auctioned at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 40,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 38,400.00 (€ 22,415.92). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Justin O'Brien - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Miraculous Draught Of Fishes No. 2, which sold at auction in November 2007 for AUD 88,800.00 (€ 53,492.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Flight Into Egypt von Justin O'Brien im August 2008 bei Sothebys in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 40.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 38.400,00 (€ 22.415,92) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Justin O'Brien mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Miraculous Draught Of Fishes No. 2 beobachtet, die im November 2007 für AUD 88.800,00 (€ 53.492,81) versteigert wurde.
