Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Classic Photographs, which included the work A Study Of The Cenci (May Prinsep) by Julia Margaret Cameron. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,085.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Julia Margaret Cameron achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sir John Herschel in April 2017 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 103,258.38).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Classic Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Study Of The Cenci (May Prinsep) von Julia Margaret Cameron zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.085,16) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Julia Margaret Cameron erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sir John Herschel im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 103.258,38).
