Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Jules Olitski was auctioned at Bonhams in February this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 255.00 (€ 240.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jules Olitski achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blue Crazy in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 774,000.00 (€ 634,738.40).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Jules Olitski im Februar diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600,00 – 900,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 255,00 (€ 240,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jules Olitski erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blue Crazy im Mai 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 774.000,00 (€ 634.738,40).
