Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French fin Du Travail by Jules Breton was sold in the 19th Century European Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,250.00 (€ 28,064.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jules Breton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French les Communiantes in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 1,270,000.00 (€ 1,140,547.82).
