Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Happy Valley by Joseph William Carey was sold in the British & Continental Watercolours including Original Book auction at Christies in London in December 2003. The price achieved of GBP 411.25 (€ 582.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph William Carey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Theta; a yacht, racing in Belfast Lough in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 4,700.00 (€ 7,541.77).
