Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cave Hill and Belfast Lough by Joseph William Carey was sold in the THE IRISH SALE auction at Christies in London in May 2002. The price achieved of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,760.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph William Carey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Theta; a yacht, racing in Belfast Lough, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 4,700.00 (€ 7,541.77).
