Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Joseph Walter could be acquired at Christies in London in October 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Maritime Art auction, the work Two large frigates running into Spithead with a flagship of the Blue anchored beyond changed hands for GBP 12,500.00 (€ 17,950.82) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Other works by Joseph Walter have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2008 by the work A Harbour At Dusk at GBP 31,250.00 (€ 32,821.59).
