Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

In October 2008 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work A three-masted merchantman in a light breeze off Avonmouth, with a Royal Navy frigate anchored and drying her sails offshore by Joseph Walter. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,966.51). Admittedly, works by Joseph Walter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Harbour At Dusk in December 2008 with an auction result of GBP 31,250.00 (€ 32,821.59).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Im Oktober 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A three-masted merchantman in a light breeze off Avonmouth, with a Royal Navy frigate anchored and drying her sails offshore von Joseph Walter zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 6.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.966,51) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Walter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Harbour At Dusk im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 31.250,00 (€ 32.821,59).
