Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Joseph H. Hirshhorn: Collector for a Nation, Part II, which included the work Portrait Of Martin Craig by Joseph Solman. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,024.00 (€ 2,513.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joseph Solman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sewing Basket and Lamp, which sold at auction in March last year for USD 8,925.00 (€ 8,045.61).
