Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Twelve project studies, 1932–1944 by José María Sert was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,347.92). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by José María Sert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nine Panels of Theatrical Scenes in October 2004 with an auction result of USD 321,100.00 (€ 251,922.17).
